There's also legal exposure. Radar detectors are banned in Virginia, in most commercial vehicles, and in some other jurisdictions. Per FTC guidelines (ftc.gov), manufacturers have to substantiate performance claims, but device legality is a separate question. Don't hold me to the latest law—verify it for your state. For our fleet, telematics and driver coaching changed speeding behavior more than any gadget did. If you're a private driver in a state where detectors are legal, run your own numbers—just don't expect any detector to act like a laser shield.
